Our parish thrives because we have many volunteers. Some serve the needs of the parish; others reach out to the
wider community. We have 30 groups and more than 100 parishioners involved in the life of our faith community.

There is something for everyone! Sometimes it can be hard work, but always rewarding. Following diocesan guidelines,
some ministries require a reference and a police check. If you have any questions about a ministry, phone the parish

Baptism Preparation TeamProvide instruction and hospitality to parents for the baptism of their children. Visit families, welcome them to and lead the parish meeting. Direct the celebration of baptism.Children's Liturgy TeacherPresent the Word of God to children (JK to Grade 1) and provide children with liturgical readings and activities appropriate to their age. Involve teenagers in a leadership role.First Communion TeamProvide instruction and support for sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist)Confirmation TeamProvide instruction and support for sacramental preparation (Confirmation)RCIA TeamJourney in faith with adults who are seeking to accept and follow Christ and/or to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.Spirituality GroupJourney together into deeper faith and prayer, and serve the spiritual initiatives of the parish.
Bereavement CommitteeProvide spiritual support to those who have lost loved ones, before during and after the funeral. Assist with arrangements for prayer vigil and Mass of Christian Burial.Legion of MaryProvide spiritual growth and evangelization with special emphasis on visitation of the sick. Weekly meetings and outreach activities. Marriage PreparationMarried couples serve as group facilitators of the Waterloo Region Marriage Preparation Course. Prayer Shawl MinistryProvide spiritual and prayer support to those who are ill or experiencing difficult life situations.Society of St. Vincent de PaulRespond to requests from individuals and families in our community for assistance in material need, with respect and confidentiality, through an Emergency Food Program.

Building CommitteeAssess and address the needs of the “physical plant” by doing repairs to the church and rectory or finding people to do required work. Collection CountersTwo or more individuals per team who count and record weekly collections as required. Bingo CommitteeServe clients from the wider community in this fundraising endeavour.Catholic Women’s LeagueFocus on spiritual development through Mass and prayers for all members living and deceased, promote the teaching of the Catholic Church, provide social activities and outreach to families and the community.Development and PeaceProvide a forum for discussion to increase awareness of global issues and of situations of injustice in the countries of the south. Prayer and Worship
Adult Altar ServersSet up and serve at weekday Mass, special celebrations and funerals.Altar Servers (Children)Set up and serve at Sunday Mass and special celebrations. Grade three and up.Adult ChoirProvide vocal and instrumental music and lead the parish in song at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass and at funerals and other special occasions. Attend weekly practice.Communion Services: Conestoga Lodge and Millwood ManorAssist residents to attend in-house Masses and celebrations, and preside over the Liturgy of the Word, take Communion to the residents and be a helpful, prayerful support to them.Ministers of CommunionAssist with the distribution of the Eucharist at weekday and weekend Masses, visit and bring Communion and prayerful support to the infirm and shut-ins unable to attend Mass.Ministers of Hospitality (Ushers)Greet and seat parishioners, take up collection, organize procession of gifts, guide people to communion, distribute bulletins, and help all feel welcome and respected.Ministers of the Word (Lectors)Prepare for and proclaim the Word of God at weekday and weekend Masses.Music Ministers (other)Lead the congregation in song, under the direction of the parish music coordinator, at the 5:00 pm Saturday and 9:00 am Sunday Masses.
